Vaccinations are a vital part of managing your pet’s health. At AWCB, our veterinarians look at many factors when discussing a vaccine protocol that’s right for your pet. These factors include age, medical history, environment, travel habits and social lifestyle.
In most cases, administering core vaccines is highly recommended for the health and safety of your pet and the humans and other pet’s they interact with. For dogs, the core vaccines include Rabies, Parvovirus, Distemper, and Canine Hepatitis. Core vaccines for cats are panleukopenia (feline distemper), feline calicivirus, feline herpesvirus type I (rhinotracheitis) and Rabies.
Other vaccines that will be considered by your veterinarian when discussing your pet’s vaccine protocol are Bordetella, Lyme, Leptospirosis, and Canine Influenza for dogs. And, Feline Leukemia and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus(FIV) for cats. Your veterinarian will go over any questions and concerns you may have regarding your pet’s vaccines.
