Fractured teeth are either uncomplicated (the pulp chamber that houses the tooth’s nerves and vessels is not exposed) or complicated (exposed pulp chamber). Sometimes it is obvious on an awake exam. Other times pulp exposure is diagnosed while the patient is under general anesthesia with a dental explorer instrument. The first part of the video below is about complicated fractures.
